Named leads
Standard 1: A named service lead in partnership with a named ICP co-ordinator is responsible for driving ICP development and implementation.

Criteria
1a A named service lead is allocated responsibility for driving ICP development and implementation.

1b A named ICP co-ordinator is allocated responsibility for supporting ICP development and implementation.

Suggested roles and responsibilities of Service Leads:

  • To work with the development lead to ensure progress towards project aims and targets
  • To provide clinical expertise and advice to the project on the specific diagnostic group
  • To advise the project team on the evidence base and local best practice for inclusion in the ICP
  • To chair project meetings
  • To represent the team at a senior management level on aspects of the project which require managerial decision making
  • To influence key decision makers
  • To champion the ICP project
Role of the ICP Co-ordinator:
  • To provide leadership and marketing
  • To project manage the ICP development and implementation
  • To plan and evaluate
  • To provide implementation support including trouble-shooting
  • To communicate, chase, motivate, negotiate
  • To facilitate especially process mapping and ICP writing
  • To train, mentor, support
